One of the chief joys for all of the staff at The Adoption Law Firm, is to bear witness to the true love and devotion that our clients have for their adopted children.
Foster parents often go through long and extremely grueling weeks, months, and years with their foster children, waiting to see what will happen for their future. Even when the biological parents have long since shown themselves to be unable or unwilling to parent, this path to adoption is often long and hard.
We get to witness devotion in action. We get to witness sacrificial, costly love in action.
We certainly witnessed this tenacious, patient devotion in the Benson family, and we are delighted to share with you Shayln’s thoughts on the adoption day of her beloved daughter Mae…
“Glory be to God! I could write a book about this journey but for now, these were the words I struggled through my tears as I spoke to the Judge and our amazing attorney, Sam McLure, as we gathered in Courtroom #7.
The last time I stood in front of you I felt as if I was pleading for our baby’s life, searching for the words to help the judicial system see what was right.
Now I stand before you struggling to find the right words to express my gratitude, for seeing the truth about who could provide Mae with a safe life.
It’s been 1364 days since the Lord chose us as her family. We were willing to be just that for as long as she needed us. And today, God says it’s forever.
Although something within me knew from day one that she would be ours forever, the last 1364 days have taught us more about unconditional love. Things that I thought we had already learned with our 4 biological children. Patience and trust in the Lord and in His timing.
Today comes with bittersweet emotions though. It’s heartbreaking to know that a chapter is being closed for a mother that wasn’t strong enough to battle her demons. It’s hard to fathom that type of battle is real because we would literally lay our lives down for her.
Yet, today is also filled with Overwhelming gratitude for the Lord’s blessings, and for the courts trusting in us as well. For the men and women who spent countless hours and heartache listening or reading through our story. For our family and friends who continuously poured into Mae’s life and prayed for her without fail.
Mae completes our family as our number 7. The number seven appears in the Old and New Testament over 700 times. It symbolizes fullness or completeness, purification, perfection, sacrifice and forgiveness.
Thank you, Your Honor and Sam. Thank you for your diligence and belief in us and in Mae’s life. Thank you for our completed family.”
