We are so happy to invite you to share in the joy of the Barnes’ family, in Meaghan’s own words…

“It’s Adoption Day! 🎀🩷

Today we are so incredibly grateful to finally rest in forever—as a family of four.

Last June, we got a call about a baby girl. She was only supposed to be with us for 30 days. 🩷 Just 30 days. And somehow, here we are, celebrating forever.

We began our foster care journey with absolutely no idea what to expect. There have been hard days, long waits, so many unknowns, and more “what ifs?” than we could count. But through every step, God has been so incredibly good and faithful.

Meet our precious new addition, Madeline Catherine Barnes. 🎀 She’s almost 17 months old, tiny but mighty, strong-willed, adventurous, and so very loved. She has completely changed our family in the most beautiful way.

And Daniel… well, he is the BEST big brother. Watching him become a big brother and love Maddie has been one of the sweetest parts of this journey.

Today is full of joy. So much joy. But adoption is also beautifully complicated. There is celebration, gratitude, love—and there is loss and grief, too. We will always be thankful for a birth mother who chose life for her daughter, while also recognizing and grieving the loss of such an important connection and the circumstances that brought Maddie to us.

We don’t take any part of her story lightly. We are simply incredibly honored that we get to be her family.
