Reflections on a Summer Internship at TALF

August 25, 2025 //  by Sam McLure

Working at The Adoption Law Firm this summer was an eye-opening experience. It was my first job in the legal field as well as my first look into child advocacy, which I hope to pursue. It was amazing to work with a group of people who not only are passionate about what they do, but who also do their best to embody the Lord in the process.

Throughout my internship I did various jobs ranging from marketing to legal and everything in between. I had the ability to learn so many new things through the tasks I was assigned and even just through my interactions with coworkers. They say if you love what you do you will never work a day in your life, and I definitely did not work a single day this summer.

The first task I was assigned this summer was to file paperwork. This is something I did a lot of over the past two months, and let’s just say I saw parts of the state I did not know existed. This task was very important though, because without filing paperwork in court nothing else can begin.

Next, I got to do research and write blogs which is an amazing feeling. I was able to learn so much about certain areas of child advocacy and help others learn about it as well. Overall, I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to work for The Adoption Law Firm and everyone who has a hand in making it the amazing and helpful place that it is. I am extremely excited to continue my journey with them and into the field of law!
