Adoption Day Reflections with The Lansdell Family

January 28, 2026 //  by Sam McLure

We have had the high privilege of walking with this family through three adoptions, all of them difficult in different ways.
Adversity has a way of revealing strengths or weaknesses, and we just continuously see strength in the Lansdells; strength rooted in good character and a strong faith in a good God.
We commend Katie’s reflections to you on the adoption of her third son…
“On September 13th 2022 we met a tiny 4-lb boy when he was just 6 weeks old, and today—1,220 days later—he is officially a Lansdell.
Joshua William Lansdell. Our son.
I don’t even know how to put all of this into words. I never planned on fostering—it was never part of “the plan.” Because of Elias’ situation, we became foster parents. We thought we would adopt Elias and then be done.
But then DHR called.
And we felt the Lord tell us to say yes.
And I am so incredibly glad we did.
Thank God we walked the road we did with Elias, because without that journey, we never would have met Joshua. This funny, sweet boy who brings so much joy into our home—and who loves ALL things involving a ball 🏀⚽️🏈.
Joshua you were worth every step through the wilderness. Every unknown, every hard and holy moment—each of your brothers’ journeys and ours—prepared the way for the next miracle. God used every wilderness season to lead us to you.
Today I’m reminded—once again—that God is always faithful.
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
— Isaiah 43:19
A huge thank you to The Adoption Law Firm and Judge Kervin—what a blessing you have been to our family through all three of our adoption journeys. We are forever grateful for the role you played in bringing our boys home.
Happy Gotcha Day, sweet boy. We are so honored to be your family forever.”
Katie Lansdell
