Alabama Adoption Agency: A Message from Lifeline Children’s Services

January 2, 2012 //  by Sam McLure

God is faithful. We are seeing our Father breath life into the lives of children – giving them a hope and a future in Christ. Adoption, foster care and orphan care are the mediums by which Lifeline is able to be part of seeing this mission accomplished.

Lifeline began in 1981, to promote the sanctity of life through domestic adoption. We continue to minister to the needs of young women in the midst of unplanned pregnancies and families in all stages of the adoption process and have since grown into an international adoption agency and orphan care ministry. Lifeline currently has programs in thirteen different countries with many more in development. In 2009, Lifeline added an orphan care outreach to the ministry. (Un)adopted is an effort to partner with churches and businesses in international communities that are saturated with orphans in need, teaching them life skills and job skills and showing them the love of their Heavenly Father. Also in 2009, Lifeline began laying the foundation for a growing foster care program. We recruited families to care for children in the custody of the Alabama Department of Human Resources in Jefferson and Shelby counties.

While doors have been opened in so many areas, we continue to seek wisdom on which ones to walk through. Seeing the way the Body of Christ has responded to our Special Needs programs in China and Bulgaria has been a glorious display of God’s provision to all who are involved in the process- the child being adopted, family pursuing hard after that child, us as their agency, and those in country who see these children are precious lives, created with a great purpose. Some countries and individuals find themselves perplexed as to why men and women are coming to their country to adopt children, and we hear from those who are making that journey saying “Why would we not?”
Psalm 10:17 “O LORD, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear.”

No matter what the call to action- foster parenting, domestic adoption, encouraging a young woman walking through a very difficult decision, giving of your resources in support of another’s adoption or sharing hope with an orphan in another context- one person can make an impact in the lives of the fatherless.

Lifeline is excited to share that we now have a Columbia Program! We look forward to providing more details about this new program and are looking for pilot families at this time. We are seeing other doors opened in Latin American countries as well. We encourage you to visit our website for updates and to stay informed on new developments.

Lastly, Lifeline’s Annual Fundraising Banquet, ONE, took place this year on Tuesday, November 8th. We had the privilege of sharing that night with the McLures, Sam(of the Adoption Law Firm), his wife Mary Beth and their son Robi, where they joined 8 other families in sharing how God used ONE to bring them to the place of their adoption. Sam shared this:

“One Date.  It started with one date.  I fell in love with my wife in a Starbucks in Montgomery as we played Scrabble and she shared her passion to care for the fatherless.  One year later we were married and three years later we were coming home from Hungary with our first son, Samuel Jacob McLure, II.

Over the coming months we would come to experiential knowledge of how unchanging is our place at the table of God’s sons.  Just as there is nothing my son could ever do to change his relationship to me as my son. The effect on our lives, of adopting our son, has been to help us understand that nothing “will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  (Romans 8:39)”

For some it’s one date, for others it’s one trip to an orphanage, one picture of a child, or simply knowing that you have been adopted by the One Father who gives hope and life through Christ! We’ve shared this video to emphasize how God can use ONE life.
