Sanctity of Human Life Sunday – Orphan Care is Warfare

January 20, 2012 //  by Sam McLure

Sav-a-Life’s January 2012 Newsletter highlights the decades old Sanctity of Human Life Sunday, this Sunday, January 22.  This is a “day to observe the intrinsic value of all human life.”

But, does Sav-a-Life really mean “all human life?”  Is all human life really valuable?

If you check out the website for Montgomery’s last remaining abortion clinic, you will see a starkly different perspective.  One of the promotional patient comments reads:  “I have cared for 53 foster teenagers, most of them born unwanted.  I couldn’t appreciate what you are doing more!”

As strange and twisted as it sounds, this patient seems to think that it would be better for these “unwanted” foster children to have been killed in the womb.

This is the present darkness that surrounds us.  This comment embodies the worldview perpetuated by the lies of the Kingdom of Darkness – the Kingdom of Satan.

The truth is, that all people, no matter their stage of development are created in the image of God – and thus have intrinsic value.

Why is God, in his otherness, described as a “Father of the fatherless?”  Why are we commanded to “visit the orphan … in their affliction?”  Partly, I think the answer is because the fatherless, left un-cared for by Christian ambassadors has only one of two fates:  1) killed before they can exit the womb and hear about God’s rescue plan, or 2) be perpetually enslaved and abused by this world and its king.

Christians, on the other hand, have the phenomenal opportunity to visit these orphans (through adoption or some other means) – immersing them in the kindness and compassion of Christ.  For, “whoever captures souls is wise.”  (Proverbs 11:30)

Adoption attorney, Sam McLure, has been invited to host a table be at Evangel Church of Montgomery, AL, this Sunday morning for their Sanctity of Human Life Service.  We look forward to discussing the rare jewel of Christian adoption!
