Do you have lunch plans on Wednesday, May 8?

May 3, 2013 //  by Sam McLure

The commemorative signing of the Best Interest of the Child Act is taking place on Wednesday, May 8th at 1:00 Pm in the Old House Chamber of the State Capitol.

If you’ve been following the development of this historic law, then you know that we could be taking a huge step toward making foster care and adoption better in Alabama.

If you haven’t been following the the development of this law, then this blog, and this blog, should catch you up to speed pretty quickly.   In short, we have been working on this law since last summer and it was passed by the legislature last week with the approval of the Department of Human Resources and the Juvenile Justices Association.  DHR Commissioner, Nancy Buckner, has called this a historic occasion, marking one of the best laws to pass for foster care and adoption in years.

So, please come out and show your support on Wednesday, May 8th at 1:00 pm at the State Capitol.

The ‘Best Interest of the Child Act’ bill signing will be on Wednesday, May 8th at 1 PM in the Old House Chamber of the State Capitol.  The best addresses to use are 600 Dexter Avenue or 11 South Union Street.  I would recommend individuals who plan to attend arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the event.
