We are pleased to announce that one of our beloved clients just received a HUGE grant from Gift of Adoption Fund! Many who consider adopting can often not afford all the expenses of the intense legal process, but with the help of non-profits like Gift of Adoption Fund the dream of adopting can come true.
In 1996, after being blessed to be able to fund three adoptions out-of-pocket, Lucy and Gene Wyka started Gift of Adoption Fund. They wanted to be able to help other families experience the joy of adopting that they had been so fortunate to experience, and their foundation has given more than $9.8 million to help over 3,357 children find a home.
The need for Gift of Adoption Fund’s work is immense. 140 million children worldwide are orphaned, in need of a family. 80 million Americans have considered adoption, less 2% percent of those will start the adoption process, and only 1% of them will complete the adoption process due to the costs.
Applying for a grant from Gift of Adoption Fund is simple and straightforward. First, you fill out the application request form at Gift of Adoption Fund’s website. Once you receive the application packet, fill it out, and send it back in accompanied by a copy of your most recent income tax return, a copy of recent (two months) check stubs for all reported income earners, a copy of your approved and current home study, or a signed statement from your adoption agency confirming your home study and adoption approval, two letters of reference, and a $50 application fee (which is payable by credit for online applications and by check for mailed applications).
Our client, “Sallie,” had a great need for financial assistance with their adoption. Finding a grant to apply for was not so simple, as Sallie is a single adoptive parent, and there are very few adoption grants that single people are eligible for. Sallie had a very positive experience with Gift of Adoption Fund. The application process was easy and straightforward, and their staff began correspondence almost immediately with our client to help them through the process of being approved for a grant. Sallie wants to remind hopeful adoptive parents not to be afraid to ask for help; the process of adopting can be scary, but it’s important to be earnest and to reach out for assistance.
