Sav-a-Life Banquet 2011 – Turning Abortions into Adoptions

October 29, 2011 //  by Sam McLure

Turning Abortions Into Adoptions
Turning Abortions Into Adoptions

The total number of aborted children in the Montgomery area last year was approximately 1,000.  A striking 90% of women who see an ultrasound decide to let their children live.  One of the primary missions of Sav-a-Life or First Choice Women’s Medical Center is to use ultrasounds and counseling to help birth mothers make the courageous decision of letting their children have the chance to live.

The annual Sav-a-Life Banquet was held on Thursday, October 27.

Bruce Wilkinson, author of Prayer of Jabez, was the guest speaker.  Through God’s gracious blessing, Sav-a-Life was able to raise over $220,000.  That’s over twice as much as was raised at last year’s banquet.

By Wilkinson’s calculations, it takes a crisis pregnancy center about $1,200 to save one life.  By these calculations, Sav-a-Life will be able to use the $220,000 to save 184 lives over the next year.

Wow! What good news.  Jesus, the Redeemer, certainly deserves all the glory.  God has consistently shown that He cares for the fatherless and being like Him brings Him glory.

Now the bad news. That still leaves 816 children unaccounted for. By Wilkinson’s calculations, Sav-a-Life lacks the resources to rescue these 816 children.

If you knew you could save one of these children’s lives by adopting them into your family, would you.  Would you look a birth mother in the eye, with her partner, and say to them, “I want to adopt your child.  Please don’t kill her?”

My wife and I have been asking ourselves that exact question.
