Alabama Adoption Services: United Methodist Children’s Home

November 7, 2011 //  by Sam McLure

I had the delightful privilege today of eating lunch with a social worker from the United Methodist Children’s Home (UMCH).  Dana Wilkes has been a social worker with UMCH for 12 years and has a passion for adoption. In the world of adoption services, there are many people who “dabble at it.”  It’s refreshing to meet someone who cares about things being done with excellence.

UMCHDana Wilkes with UMCH provides home study services and helps to counsel families throughout the adoption journey.  Her favorite book to recommend for adoptive families is, Talking with Young Children About Adoption, by Watkins & Fisher.  In addition, UMCH provides the state-required training for families considering caring for the fatherless through foster care.

Dana Wilkes and UMCH can help guide families considering both domestic and international adoption.

Thank you to Dana Wilkes and UMCH for helping families practice pure religion by caring for the fatherless.  James 1:27.
